PATCHWORK PLAYTENT

25/08/2014

My first column for PRETTY PATCHES magazine kicked off with my tutorial for a patchwork play tent cover designed to fit a simple A-Frame construction. Instructions for how to make a similar tent and details for the patchwork cover can be found in Issue 7 of Pretty Patches. You can order a copy HERE. The blogosphere is awash with play tent tutorials and ever since Boudica moved into her own room, I’ve just been waiting for the opportunity to strike to make her one. I designed my tent around a playful patchwork cover stitched up in a rainbow of colour popping print and pattern, but of course you can customise to suit your own scheme or theme!

This was a really easy project to put together – perfect for people just getting to grips with machine piecing patchwork, yet large scale enough to make it a satisfying and worthwhile make. One of my favourite things about machine piecing is just how quick and easily the patchwork builds up! The whole thing took me approx. two days to complete and now sits pride of place in my little ones new play space. As you can see she is already loving her new handmade hangout!
